Hiking and Biking Trails

Charlotte has an abundant choice of walking, hiking and and biking trails that have views of Lake Champlain, the Green Mountains, and the Adirondack Mountains. Here is a list of trails that are accessible to the public. These trails are maintained by organizations such as the Town Trails Committee, the State of Vermont and The Nature Conservancy.  Several are on or cross conserved lands.

Also included is a link to the Vermont Land Trust Recreation Map, which allows you to search for trails on conserved land in Charlotte and the throughout the State and four bike routes through beautiful protected land in the Champlain Vally recommended by Al Karnatz, of VLT who has been conserving land and farms in the area for over 20 years.

Town Link Trail Project

The Trails Committee of the Town of Charlotte has been working for several years on an ambitious project to create a 7-mile gravel walking, biking and cross country ski path across Town. When complete, the Town Link Trail will link the Charlotte town beach to the west village center, and then on to Mt. Philo.

To date several portions of the trail are completed and open. To find out more about this trail and how to support:
